How to Download and Install the Treecat Agent

If you're setting up the Treecat agent for the first time, the process is straightforward. Below is a simple step-by-step guide to downloading, installing, and connecting the agent from the Treecat settings area.

1. Go to the Agent Configuration Page

Start by logging into Treecat and navigating to:

Settings → Agent Configuration

From there, click Download Agent. The download should begin automatically, and you’ll see it appear in the upper-right corner of your browser.

2. Open the Downloaded Installer

Once the download finishes, open your Downloads folder. You should see the Treecat Agent Installer file there.

Double-click the installer to launch it.

3. Run the Installer on Windows

Windows may show a security warning like:

Windows protected your PC

If that happens, click Run anyway.

You may also see a prompt asking for administrator permission. Click Yes to continue.

The Treecat installation wizard will then open.

4. Complete the Installation Wizard

Follow the installer prompts by clicking:

  • Next
  • Accept the option to create a shortcut, if prompted
  • Wait for the progress bar to finish
  • Click Finish when the setup is complete

After that, the Treecat agent should be installed on your computer.

5. Copy and Paste the VI Key

After installation, go back to Treecat and locate the VI key.

Click View VI Key, then click Copy Key.

Next, open the agent UI and paste the key into the field labeled something like:

Edit Local Proxy Key

Use:

  • Ctrl + C to copy
  • Ctrl + V to paste

Then click Save.

6. Test the Agent Connection

Once everything is saved, click the Test Agent button.

It may take 20–30 seconds for the connection to establish, so be patient. If everything is working, you should see a green status indicating that the agent is connected.

You can always return to:

Settings → Agent Configuration

to test the local agent connection again if needed.

Final Thoughts

Installing the Treecat agent is a quick process once you know where to look. Download it from the agent configuration page, run the installer, paste in your VI key, and test the connection. When the status turns green, you’re ready to go.
