Treecat Inventory Sync: How to Set Up and Run Your First Sync

Treecat makes it easier to manage and cross-list inventory across multiple resale platforms. If you’re getting ready to use Treecat Inventory Sync, there are a few important steps to follow before you start. In this guide, we’ll walk through the setup process and explain what to expect during your first sync.

1. Make Sure the Treecat Agent Is Installed

Before anything else, confirm that the Treecat agent is installed and working on your computer. This local proxy agent is what helps Treecat connect properly with your platforms and pull in your listings.

To verify it:

  • Go to Settings
  • Click Proxy Configuration
  • Check whether your local proxy agent shows as working

If you want extra confirmation, you can use the Test Proxy option for double verification.

2. Log In to All Your Selling Platforms

Next, make sure you are logged in to every marketplace account you want Treecat to sync with.

In Treecat:

  • Go to Settings
  • Click Platforms
  • Confirm your connected stores are active

For example, you may see that you’re logged in to platforms like:

  • eBay
  • Mercari
  • Poshmark

This step is important because Treecat can only sync inventory from accounts that are properly connected.

3. Understand What Happens During the First Sync

Your first inventory sync will take the longest because Treecat is importing all of your listings for the first time. Depending on how many listings you have, this can take several hours.

Best practice:

  • Start the sync when you do not need your computer for a while
  • Run it overnight if possible
  • Make sure your computer does not go to sleep during the process

If the connection drops during the first sync, you may need to start over, so disabling sleep mode is highly recommended.

4. Start the Inventory Sync

Once your proxy is working and your platforms are connected, you’re ready to begin.

To start the sync:

  • Go to the Inventory tab on the left side of Treecat
  • Click the blue Sync button

Treecat will begin a full inventory import. During this process, you may see activity bubbles or loading indicators while the sync runs.

5. Confirm That the Sync Completed Successfully

When the sync finishes, the loading bubbles will disappear and your listings will begin to appear inside Treecat.

That means:

  • Your inventory has been imported
  • The sync completed successfully
  • You can now manage, edit, or cross-list your items from Treecat

6. Use Treecat in the Way That Fits Your Workflow

Treecat is flexible and can fit different selling styles. You can:

  • Create listings directly in Treecat
  • Start listings on a marketplace first and pull them into Treecat
  • Cross-list items after they’ve been imported

This gives resellers more control over how they build and manage their inventory.

If you’re setting up Treecat Inventory Sync for the first time, taking these steps in order will help make the process smooth and successful.
