Treecat Archive Update: Easier Inventory Management for Resellers

Treecat.io just rolled out a small but helpful update to the archive and delete workflow, making it easier to manage inventory and keep your marketplace listings in sync. If you sell on resale marketplaces and use Treecat to organize your business, this update removes an extra step and helps you avoid inventory mistakes.

What Is the Treecat Archive?

The Treecat archive is one of those features that’s easy to overlook, but extremely useful once you start using it.

When an item sells, Treecat automatically keeps a record of that listing in your archive. That archived record includes your listing details such as:

  • Photos
  • Descriptions
  • Other listing information

In other words, the archive acts as a backup of your sold inventory and a history of the work you’ve already done.

This is especially helpful for resellers who source replenishable inventory. If you find the same item again months later, you don’t have to start from scratch. You can go into your archive, pull up the old listing, update anything that has changed, and relist it quickly.

What’s New in the Archive and Delete Workflow?

Previously, if an item was still listed on a marketplace, you had to:

  1. Delist the item
  2. Go back into Treecat
  3. Archive or delete it

That meant handling the process in two separate steps.

Now, Treecat lets you delist and archive or delist and delete at the same time.

This update simplifies inventory management by reducing manual work and helping ensure your Treecat inventory matches what’s actually live on your marketplaces.

How the New Option Works

When you choose Archive or Delete, Treecat now gives you the option to also delist the item at the same time.

A few important notes:

  • If the item is currently listed, Treecat can delist it as part of the process.
  • If the item is not listed, leaving the delist option checked won’t cause any problems.
  • In general, Treecat recommends leaving delist selected when archiving or deleting items.

That means you don’t have to stop and check whether something is still live before using these actions. Treecat can handle it for you.

Archive vs. Delete: What’s the Difference?

It’s important to remember that archive and delete are not the same thing.

Archive

Use archive if there’s a chance you may want the listing again later. Archiving keeps the listing history inside Treecat, so you can reuse the information if you get more quantity or a similar item in the future.

Delete

Use delete if you want to completely remove the item from Treecat and you don’t expect to need that listing again.

A simple rule of thumb:

  • Archive = keep the record for future reuse
  • Delete = permanently remove it from Treecat

A Quick Example of the New Workflow

Here’s how the update works in practice:

  • Select one or more items in Treecat
  • Click Archive
  • If needed, Treecat will delist any active listings first
  • Confirm by clicking the archive button

You can do the same thing with Delete by using the three-dot menu and selecting delete. Again, the delist option is already available so active listings can be handled in the same step.

This makes the whole process faster and helps keep your marketplace listings and Treecat inventory aligned.

Final Thoughts

This Treecat archive update is a small change, but it makes a real difference for resellers who want to save time and reduce friction in their workflow. By combining delisting with archive or delete actions, Treecat helps you manage inventory more efficiently and avoid an extra step.
