Depop selling fees

How much does Depop take in 2026?

In the US and UK, Depop takes no selling fee. You pay only payment processing: 3.3% + $0.45 in the US or 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK, on the item, shipping and any tax. A sale that came from a boosted listing adds 12%. Sellers in Canada still pay a 10% selling fee plus PayPal fees.

Many older guides still quote a flat 10% selling fee; in the US and UK it no longer applies. Depop earns most of its money from buyers instead, through a marketplace fee added at checkout. The catch is that "0% fees" does not mean you keep the full price: processing still comes out of every sale, and on cheap items the fixed part adds up quickly. Use the Depop fee calculator above as a Depop profit calculator by adding what you paid for the item.

Depop selling fees by country

Depop's fees depend on where your shop is based, not where the buyer lives. The calculator covers the US, UK and Canada; Australia and other countries are listed here for context.

Depop payment processing fees

Processing is the one fee every US and UK seller pays. Depop Payments (run on Stripe) handles cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Klarna, and the rate is the same whichever the buyer picks. It is charged once per order, so a bundle pays the fixed part only once.

The base is everything the buyer pays except the buyer's own marketplace fee: item price, shipping, and in the US the sales tax Depop collects. A $50 item with $8 shipping and 7% tax has a processing base of $62.06, so the fee is $2.50 rather than $2.36. You never see that tax in your balance, but you still pay 3.3% on it.

Why small sales cost more

The fixed $0.45 matters most at low prices. On a $10 sale processing is $0.78, or 7.8% of the price; at $25 it is $1.28 (5.1%); at $100 it falls to 3.75%. In the UK a £10 sale pays £0.59, about 5.9%. If you sell lots of low-priced pieces, bundles are the easiest way to pay that fixed fee less often.

Depop boosted listing fees

Boosting is Depop's optional advertising. You only pay when a boosted listing leads to a sale, and the rate is 12% in the US and UK and 8% in Canada and other countries.

  • What counts: the buyer saw, clicked or liked the boosted listing and bought it within 28 days. A view of the boosted tile is enough.
  • Turning it off is not instant: if the qualifying view happened while the boost was on, the fee still applies to a sale inside the 28 days.
  • The base: the item price excluding tax, plus shipping only if you ship the item yourself. Boost fees are never charged on a Depop Shipping label.

Is boosting worth 12%?

On a $50 item with $8 shipping you ship yourself, a boost cuts your payout from $47.64 to $40.68. To come out ahead, boosting has to make the sale about 17% more likely (47.64 ÷ 40.68). For slow-moving stock that can be easy; for items that would sell anyway it is money left on the table. Toggle the boost in the calculator to see the cost on your own numbers.

Depop shipping: labels vs shipping it yourself

US and UK sellers can buy a Depop Shipping label in the app (USPS in the US, Evri in the UK) or arrange their own tracked shipping. The choice changes your fees more than most sellers expect.

Depop Shipping labels

The buyer pays the label price at checkout, the money arrives with your sale, and Depop deducts the label from your earnings, so it nets to zero. It is still part of the processing base, but it sits outside the boost fee. Labels also unlock Depop's seller protection on sales up to $300 or £250. In the UK, Evri labels cost roughly £2.99 (small), £4.49 (medium) and £6.49 (large); the app always shows the current price.

Shipping it yourself

You set the shipping price, buy postage from any carrier and keep any difference between the two. Processing applies to the shipping you charge, and so does the boost fee on a boosted sale. Tracking is required.

Free shipping

With free shipping the buyer pays nothing for postage, so processing runs on the item price alone, but the postage comes out of your payout. On a $50 item with an $8 label you keep $39.90 instead of $47.64. Pricing the item at $58 with free shipping gives exactly the same $47.64 as $50 plus $8 shipping.

Depop buyer fees: the marketplace fee

In the US and UK, Depop charges buyers a marketplace fee: up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1 or £1, excluding tax and shipping. Buyers see it at checkout and it is refunded if the order is refunded.

It never comes out of your payout, which is why the calculator lists it under "Buyer pays" rather than as a deduction. It does matter indirectly: a $50 item can cost the buyer up to $61.50 with $8 shipping before tax, and buyers who notice the higher total tend to offer lower. Canadian buyers do not pay this fee.

Depop fees in Canada: the 10% that never went away

Canada is where the old model still applies. Depop Payments is only available to sellers in the US, UK and Australia, so Canadian shops are paid through PayPal and pay two separate fees:

  • Depop selling fee: 10% of the item price (excluding tax) plus the shipping you charge. There are no Depop labels in Canada, so shipping is always in the base.
  • PayPal fee: 2.9% + C$0.30 for a standard domestic sale. PayPal adds 0.8% for US buyers and 1% for other international buyers, and charges extra to convert currency.
  • Boost: 8% on boosted sales.

A C$50 item with C$8 shipping pays C$5.80 to Depop and C$1.98 to PayPal, leaving C$42.22 after an C$8 postage cost. Depop also collects GST/HST on domestic sales. PayPal does not say whether its fee applies to that tax, so the calculator leaves it out unless you switch it on.

How to calculate Depop fees

The Depop earnings calculator above does the maths live, but here it is step by step:

  1. Add the item price and the shipping the buyer pays (plus US sales tax) to get the processing base.
  2. Multiply it by the processing rate and add the fixed fee: 3.3% + $0.45 in the US, 2.9% + £0.30 in the UK.
  3. If the sale came from a boosted listing, add 12% of the item price, plus shipping if you shipped it yourself.
  4. In Canada, add the 10% selling fee on item + shipping and use your PayPal rate instead of Depop Payments.
  5. Subtract the fees and your shipping label from the sale total, then your item cost, to get your profit.

In the US: processing = 3.3% × (item + shipping + tax) + $0.45, boost = 12% × (item + shipping if you ship yourself), and payout = item + shipping − fees − postage. Every fee is rounded to the cent.

The "Price for a target profit" tab runs the same formula backwards. For example, to keep $40 on an item with $8 shipping you ship yourself, list it at $42.10.

Depop fees vs eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, Etsy and Whatnot

For US sellers Depop is one of the cheapest places to sell clothing: a $50 sale with no shipping costs $2.10, against $5.00 on Mercari and $10.00 on Poshmark. Here is how the headline fees compare:

Headline seller fees by marketplace

Low fees are only half the picture. Depop's audience skews young and trend-driven, so vintage and streetwear move fast while other items can sit. Listing the same piece on several apps gives it more chances to sell at your price.

Tips to keep more of each Depop sale

  • Boost selectively. At 12%, boost stale listings that need the visibility, not the ones already collecting likes.
  • Use Depop labels on boosted items. The label stays out of the boost fee, and you get seller protection.
  • Bundle cheap pieces. One order pays the fixed processing fee once, which matters a lot below $15.
  • Price for offers. Buyers see your price plus their marketplace fee, so leave a little room for the offers that follow.
  • Compare postage. Your own carrier is sometimes cheaper than a Depop label; the calculator shows the difference.
  • Sell in Canada? Watch currency.Pricing in CAD and avoiding conversion keeps PayPal's extra charges down.

FAQ

Depop fees: frequently asked questions (2026)

How much does Depop take from a sale?

In the US Depop has no selling fee. You pay 3.3% + $0.45 payment processing on the item, shipping and sales tax, which is $2.10 on a $50 item with no shipping. Sales that come from a boosted listing cost another 12%.

Does Depop still charge 10%?

Not in the US or UK, where Depop has no selling fee. Sellers in Canada and most other countries still pay 10% of the item price plus shipping, on top of PayPal fees.

How much does Depop take from $100?

With no shipping and no boost: $3.75 in the US, £3.20 in the UK, and in Canada C$10 selling fee plus about C$3.20 in PayPal fees, so C$13.20.

Does Depop charge fees on shipping?

The processing fee always includes the shipping the buyer pays. The boost fee and the Canadian selling fee include shipping only when you ship it yourself; neither is charged on a Depop Shipping label.

What is the Depop marketplace fee and who pays it?

It is a buyer fee of up to 5% of the item price plus up to $1 or £1, added at checkout in the US and UK. It is not taken out of your payout.

How much is the Depop boost fee?

12% in the US and UK, 8% in Canada and other countries. It is charged only when a buyer saw, clicked or liked your boosted listing and bought within 28 days, even if you stopped boosting in the meantime.

Why does Depop charge processing on sales tax?

Depop collects US sales tax at checkout and the whole payment, tax included, goes through Depop Payments. The 3.3% therefore applies to the tax too, even though the tax itself goes to the state.

How do Depop shipping labels affect my payout?

The buyer pays the label price, you receive it with the sale, and Depop deducts the label from your earnings, so it nets to zero. It still counts toward the processing fee, but not toward the boost fee.

What are Depop fees in the UK?

No selling fee, 2.9% + £0.30 payment processing on item, shipping and taxes, and 12% on boosted sales. Buyers pay a marketplace fee of up to 5% + £1.

What are Depop fees in Canada?

A 10% selling fee on the item price plus shipping, and PayPal fees on top: 2.9% + C$0.30 for a standard domestic sale. Depop Payments is not available to Canadian sellers yet.

Does Depop charge listing or monthly fees?

No. Listing is free and there is no subscription or withdrawal fee. You only pay fees when something sells.

Are Depop fees refunded if I refund the buyer?

Yes. With Depop Payments the selling, processing and boost fees are reversed automatically. PayPal sellers may need to request a selling-fee refund.

Is Depop owned by eBay?

Yes. eBay owns Depop, but Depop runs as its own app with its own fees, separate from the eBay marketplace. We re-check them against the Depop Help Centre regularly.
